#ASK1: Flurry of Butterlies
Ann Strite-Kurz Flurry of Butterlies This elegant blue and red oriental design was adapted from an Imari plate, and the design contours are fully charted to keep the curves uniform and smooth. Each of the fillings is an original pattern developed specifically for the individual shapes, and all are easy to compensate. The interior fillings include a variety of small scale patterns with multiple stitches, and some have laidwork foundations. One pattern is beaded, and four different metallics are used in the design. Two different open background patterns surround the plate, and the center one is executed in reversible blackwork outlines. This is a truly sophisticated design, and all of the areas are outlined with couched gold metallic as the finishing touch. Finished Design Size: 13.5 " square.
