Tease
Time is an intermediate level mixed media canvas design on 18-mesh
canvas. Beyond its appeal to cat lovers who stitch, it also
explores ways of combining couched foundations with both canvas
and blackwork overlays. The whimsical cats who are chasing the
elusive mouse have distinctive calico patterning created with
multiple thread and stitch combinations. The backgrounds in
the nine-patch arrangement are filled with two simple reversible
blackwork fillings, and the borders of the "windows"
are embellished with multiple herringbone rows that echo the
colors in the cats. Any attractive two-color combination is
suggested for this piece, and slight variations in value and
intensity will produce unique arrangements for stitchers who
like to play with color.
