BASK2: Potpourri of Pattern |
|
This book explores Ann's innovative style of counted open patterning that is particularly effective on today's beautiful array of colored canvasses and evenweave linens. Many of the patterns combine four-way lattice arrangements of familiar stitches that have accents of couching layers and blackwork motifs in the open areas. Over 125 original networks and variations are featured along with complete step-by-step sequences that minimize or eliminate the visibility of the traveling threads. Full color outside and inside covers include samplers and doodle cloths of many of the patterns included. An additional 8-page signature includes 14 color plates of some of Ann's original designs that incorporate open treatments. Some patterns are beaded, and many of these make stunning backgrounds. A detailed text provides information on pattern design, color and value contrasts, appropriate threads, and tips on general sequence planning for these unusual composite patterns. |
