| This pamphlet is for the intermediate embroiderer who wants to add originality to his or her stitch treatments. The text provides an extensive menu of ways to vary stitches along with many charted examples that illustrate the step-by-step process. By applying the simple manipulations discussed to familiar traditional stitches, one can create useful new stitches as well as innovative patterns from the novel arrangements. Most reference books for counted stitches group them in related families, but no book has ever provided this sort of guide for developing original arrangements or offspring from existing stitches.
