| This "no frills" pamphlet was developed originally as the text for a notebook course that was taught for several years. The purpose was to provide a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of canvas embroidery and to create guidelines for handling some of the problems that are ignored in most basic books. As skills grow, most stitchers seek answers to puzzling issues such as logical ways to plan and manipulate stitch sequences, to achieve optimum canvas coverage and backing needs, or to select correct procedures for starting and ending thread tails.
