BASK6: An Analysis of Diaper Patterns & The Specific Use in Canvas Embroidery |
| This comprehensive manual originated as a research paper for Ann's teacher certification work. The study focuses on one type of ornamental pattern and its specific application to canvas embroidery a subject of heightened interest today because of the incorporation of a diaper pattern project in the Master Craftsman Program of the Embroiderers Guild of America. The essay defines the term diaper as it relates to general pattern structure and shows how diapers can be formed from each of the eight basic pattern network shapes. It also distinguishes diapers from groundings and stripes and shows several stitch samples (in color) that can be manipulated to form all three pattern styles with simple alterations in the color and value contrasts present. No earlier in-depth study has been done on this topic, and this pamphlet has received the endorsement of the Master Craftsman Committee of the Embroiderers' Guild of America. |
