CJAT3: Kimono Ribbons

Jennifer Ashley Taylor Kimono Ribbons - Japanese Embroidery Design

As the companion piece to the Phase II design, Kimono Ribbons incorporates ten additional techniques. This design is an adaptation of a mid-eighteenth century paste resist, stenciled gold leaf and embroidered furisode. Stitched on obi silk, this interpretation includes Japanese gold, silver and flat silk. The gold threads are couched as well as twisted with the silk to form delicate outlines for several ribbons.

Note: Design may be stitched without the outline as noshi.
