CJAT5: Creative Stitching

Jennifer Ashley TaylorJapanese Embroidery Flutterby Design

Four outline drawings are available for this class: Moon Princess (similar to this design stitched by Maxine Brandt), Noble Noshi (similar to these ribbons stitched by Rena Gordan), Flutterbys (shown at left - also stitched by Rena Gordan) , or leaves. Students will draw on the experience of the previous four years of study; the inspiration of Japanese embroidery books and designs; a self-created design notebook and other resources for color and pattern placement. One-on-one discussions with Jennifer will assure capturing the essence of Japanese embroidery techniques and tradition to create a one-of-a-kind work of art.
