JAT44: YLI #100 Silk
Here's a new item that is guaranteed to become part of your required stitching items. A few years ago we started transferring the Japanese designs to our silk fabric via a Japanese running stitch. Transferring the designs this way has accomplished several things:
1.
It is a very effective way to stitch a true representation of the design (without distortion.)
2.
It is a terrific way to get to know your design before you begin your silk work.
3.
There are never any residual unsightly transfer lines when you have completed your stitching. Example
4.
If you decide to change the design or don't stitch over the line occasionally, the running stitch can be easily cut out leaving a crisp, clean edge.
YLI #100 silk thread is available in many colors. The closest DMC and Anchor floss colors are listed as monitor colors vary significantly. This thread is gaining popularity as a couching thread too...blue for silver and gold for gold. Try couching kata-yori threads when you want the stitches to disappear. It is much finer than traditional couching threads so your stitching will be more delicate. It's a bargain at $5.00 for 200 meters and less expensive than our traditional couching threads too!
