Have you found that holding the first half of an undertwist in your mouth can be exasperating? First it slips out out of your mouth and has to be retwisted. Then you cut it with your teeth trying to hold on to a few sugas (especially when making the 1 into 2 twists). Have you ever thought, "There must be an easier way." Well, there is... The hemostat, used for surgical procedures, is another instrument we've adapted for Japanese embroidery. The handles lock on the undertwist and is laid on the frame or table or chair so it doesn't move. Therefore, you don't have to hold the undertwist in your mouth while the second half of the undertwist is made. It's the perfect answer to this challenging task and eliminates a great deal of frustration, retwisting time and wasted silk. |
