Luan B. Callery
Biography |
For many years, Luan taught crewel embroidery in and around New England, until she and her husband moved to Florida. She anticipated a life of sunny days at the beach, shopping, and dining in fine restaurants. Instead, she found she couldn't put her needle down and continued to design. She had taken classes with Muriel Baker and now found that her interest in stumpwork resurfaced. She began developing correspondence courses in stumpwork for EGA, which led to requests for additional designs. Luan loves creating stumpwork embroideries for beginners as well as for more advanced stitchers, and includes many tips and color/thread suggestions in the instructions. A benchmark of Luan's classes is the encouragement she gives the stitcher to incorporate her own ideas to make the piece unique. |
