| Luan B. Callery LBC2: Moth Orchid – a Stumpwork Embroidery |
![]() |
This chart pak includes detailed instructions and diagrams for creating a lifelike orchid in stumpwork. Additional color suggestions and alternative fabrics and threads are given for the more creative stitcher. Place it in a 7" x 12" frame, or add a mat and put it in a shadow box frame, and you will have an embroidered piece your friends will envy. The sample is worked with cotton floss, but silk threads would add to its elegance. Some leaves are worked directly on the ground fabric, some are padded for dimension, and one is wired to stand away from the fabric. Realism in the flowers is achieved by the addition of wire so that the petals flair out, creating depth and dimension. A few beads in the centers and padded buds complete this stumpwork design.
