MSS3: Advice is... |

In sharing some of the many tips and ideas gleaned from over 45 years of teaching the art of the needle, I acknowledge your right to disagree with me...hence the title of this booklet. In other words, I can offer you my "two cents' worth." What you do with it is up to you! Much of what is shared is logical, common knowledge but perhaps you have not encourntered it before. Almost every class I teach yields a new idea or improvement. That is one of the joys of teaching. Hopefully, you will find something new in the following pages to expand or refine your existing knowledge. It is never too late to learn or adapt. My Mother, Marjorie Reid, started taking my evening classes at the age of 60 and contributed several of the concepts, assuming (incorrectly!) that I already knew what she had discovered. At age 65, she came to work at my shop -The Robin Hood - and at 71, she bought the shop from me, operating it until her death five years later, in 1982. It is thanks to her support and encouragement and that of the many students of our rewarding art that I have the information to share. And, of course, the incredible grounding I received during three years at London's Royal School of Needlework from 1952 to 1955. |
