Based on traditional motifs in Early American crewel, this sampler uses hand-dyed Heathway crewel wools, Impressions silk/wool, and Pearsall's silk for accents. The kit includes linen with design, all threads, needles, four-color instruction booklet and a detailed Stitch Glossary along with hints on perfecting your crewel embroidery. A hoop with deep sides, stretcher bars, or (best of all) a slate frame are recommended to keep your work drum tight while stitching, a real necessity when doing crewel.
