Tristan Brooks Designs
TBD7: Newbury Smalls

Two nice beginner pieces that gently take you through the art of crewel. Small enough to finish but interesting enough to keep you stitching. Worked with hand-dyed Heathway crewel wools and Gumnuts Poppies (a silk/wool blend). The kits include linen with design, all threads, needles, four-color instruction booklet and a detailed Stitch Glossary along with hints on perfecting your crewel embroidery. A hoop with deep sides, stretcher bars, or (best of all) a slate frame are recommended to keep your work drum tight while stitching, a real necessity when doing crewel. These designs utilize the Royal School of Needlework technique of mounting your linen onto muslin for an even sturdier base for your stitching. It's easy to do and the results are marvelous. These would make wonderful pincushions for gift giving or a great pair framed for your walls.
