The Moon Princess was a perfect design to use the Novel Effects Instructions.  I chose the following designs:  Hyoronui - the blending and shading used in this design was especially effective in creating a flowing effect on the lower half of the kimono; Takedabishinui - I used flat silk for the weft foundation and then a metallic for the superimposed stitching; Hitakanokonui - I combined the two effects into one which made the kimono folds look like brocade; Janbishi nui - This effect was done on the top of the kimono and when completed looked quilted.  I envisioned that my Moon Princess would be older than tradition suggests.  Therefore, the colors of the kimono were chosen to fit what an older woman would wear, and I lightly sprinkled streaks of gray in her hair.  I thoroughly enjoyed this design and the many techniques that could be used to display my creativity.
