Also you will have a record of approximately how much thread and how many plies it takes to stitch a one-inch square on 14 count canvas. This information is particularly valuable if you have a large background area to stitch. Use this information to estimate the number of skeins or cards, etc. so you have enough of the same dye lot to finish the area.
